Perfectly Positive Monday #6
I have a pretty good one this week! A couple friends of ours gifted us tickets to see the How to Fix Everything Tour.
I know, I know. What the hell is that? It’s a touring version of the Red Green Show, which was an obscure Canadian cable access show that played on PBS when I was a teenager. In an odd turn of events, both my husband and myself watched it and loved it. I’ll let Wikipedia describe it:
The Red Green Show is essentially a cross between a sitcom and a sketch comedy series, and is a parody of home improvement, do-it-yourself, fishing, and other outdoors shows (particularly The Red Fisher Show).
I’ll never forget the episode where they use the washing machine to make ice cream 😂. Anyway, we made a weekend of it and stayed at a Ramada Inn after the show. It was pretty nice considering that it was located in a shady part of the city we were in, and next to a Family Dollar. I think they shared a parking lot. But we had a jacuzzi tub and that was awesome. Of course, like every time we stay at a hotel, husband got tired and went to sleep, while I soaked in the jacuzzi by my onesie. He’s not a night owl. Whatevs, I put on my Pandora station of saddish-music and soaked and thought about my novel. It was so relaxing. I actually got up early the next day and got some writing done, too.
In an effort to keep me writing, I attended the Rally of Writers conference last weekend. It was great. However, I missed the first session as I was running late, and it was the one I wanted to attend the most. So, I was sulking and irritable and not in the moment at all. But they had a table full of tea, coffee, and cookies. While I stewed, I grabbed a chocolate chunk cookie and some tea. Instantly, my mood improved because it was the most delicious tea I’ve ever had. It was so good. Before you ask, absolutely did NOT pocket an extra tea bag for later. Ahem. Moving on.
If the tea brought me joy, it was nothing to compared to meeting Beverly fuckin’ Jenkins there. I fangirled hard. She was so funny and cool. I wanna be like her when I grow up (which should happen any day now).
That’s it. Everything was nice last week.
